Phase One of the new LEED certified Performing Arts Center (PAC) is under construction. This part of the project includes classrooms, rehearsal spaces, specialized production areas, as well as faculty and administrative offices for the UCF College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) departments of Music and Theatre.
Privately funded, Phase Two construction includes state-of-the-art facilities that will provide for theatre, orchestral and recital performances in a 600-seat concert hall, a 520-seat proscenium theatre, a 263-seat recital hall, a 225-seat black box theatre, rehearsal areas, and scenery production, property, and costume shops. The new Performing Arts Center will enhance performing arts classes and programs at UCF and will become a focus for performance activities on campus. The broad vision of this project incorporates a synergy of creative ideas, new sustainable energy concepts, and practical applications for the learning and performance environments This dynamic facility will foster creativity as students experiment with the expressive arts and develop more avenues to interact with each other. Through UCF’s music and theatre majors, and dance program, students are exposed to a wide variety of activities which encourage the development of artistic and performance skills while providing them with opportunities for performance experiences in an academic setting.
Student productions will entertain the university and Central Florida communities fulfilling an important niche in cultural enlightenment and enrichment which enhance our area. |
