About J. Charles "Charlie" Gray

J. Charles Gray lived a life of deeply meaningful purpose and impact, offering decades of service-oriented leadership and sacrifice. He leaves a legacy that will last generations, and he was a rare, noble, and special life worthy of celebration, remembrance, and honor.

Born and raised in Orlando, Charlie was a brilliant lawyer, civic leader, and relentless builder whose vision helped shape transformative milestones — from the creation of the University of Central Florida to the infrastructure, economic engines and institutions that propelled the region forward.

His influence touched nearly every chapter of modern Central Florida history, whether through public service, philanthropy, environmental preservation, or the firm he helped build which reflected his belief that building community is the highest calling.

Words cannot fully capture how deeply he will be missed, but in his memory, may we honor his example by choosing service.
