COVID-19 UPDATE

A Message from UCF Foundation CEO Mike Morsberger

Friends,

As we take positive steps at UCF to minimize risk to our university community from COVID-19, I want to share a few updates with you, our most steadfast friends and generous supporters.

Interim President Thad Seymour announced that UCF will move to all online instruction for at least two weeks starting Monday, March 16. UCF, identified as one of the most innovative universities in the country, is a national leader in online learning and will rise to the challenge. As an extra precaution, non-essential personnel are asked to work remotely.

Most UCF Advancement events scheduled from now through at least April 6 have been postponed. These include UCF Foundation and UCF Alumni events. Our annual UCF Day of Giving, Faculty & Staff Campaign and President’s Circle Reception have been postponed.

The American Athletic Conference announced its decision to suspend all spring sport competition. UCF athletic teams may hold practices and team activities but will not travel or participate in competition. Refunds will be issued automatically to ticketholders for upcoming events.

The university has also canceled all faculty-led trips, international exchanges and participation in partner programs for students and staff members for the spring and summer semesters and is taking positive measures to ensure that students, faculty and staff returning from abroad do not risk spreading COVID-19 to other members of the UCF community.

Likewise, at the UCF Foundation and UCF Alumni, we have suspended all staff travel and in-person meetings with alumni and donors through at least April 6.

This is an ever-changing situation. For the most up-to-date information on UCF’s response to COVID-19, I encourage you to visit ucf.edu/safety/coronavirus.

These are extraordinary measures, but we know that an early, decisive response is key to preventing the spread of illness. Nothing is more important to us than your safety and health and the health of the UCF community.

I wish you and your families continued good health. Please, be careful and kind. Take necessary precautions and be safe. As Knights always do, we will face this challenge directly and come out of it stronger than ever.

Charge On!
